Finding Beauty

Beauty goes beyond makeup and physical appearances. Feeling beautiful is different from looking beautiful and people around you will definitely notice the difference! The following list is my 10 pointers to look beyond the commercial "happy" we are told to accept as the norm by mainstream media.


  • Smile, it will brighten your day and others around you will feel your energy. Your smile might just reach someone who needs it.

  • Stretch. Cats have perfected a slow stretch and definitely know that total body stretching does wonders. Follow their example and roll up slowly out of bed and stretch gently. When you are sitting by a computer every day (most of us does), just give your body a moment to stretch and feel more comfortable

  • Exercise at least 20 mins of any continuous activity will boost your energy level and reduce bad stressors. No heavy aerobics are required, just some continuous movement, even dancing around the kitchen while cooking dinner! Even cleaning the house helps us to move!

  • Drink water, there is no other liquid is like it. Clear your system and hydrate your body. Your skin will radiate and you will feel better.

  • Rest, you need to take breaks during the day and sleep at night. Take breaks away from your work space to keep fresh and focused. Make sure you are getting sufficient sleep at night since your body regenerates while you are sleeping. If you are constantly letting your mind wander, make a conscious decision to put away thoughts till morning. I keep a pencil and paper next to my bed, to enable me not to forget what I remembered! It is amazing how good your subconscious mind listens to your conscious mind.

  • Do good, when you do something for someone else without expecting anything in return you benefit in ways unimaginable. Do not except anything return and you might be surprised at the rewards. Every small gesture counts, stop by the pedestrian walkway, give the other guy in traffic a chance!

  • Exchange the money you spend on junk food for food that will enrich your body and soul. Start with a simple plan of exchange. We believe that healthy living is expensive, but wise, yet small, changes can bring transformation. Making your own natural skincare products can save you stacks at the store!

  • "Stop and smell the flowers" Look for good in everything. This might be difficult to start as most of us are "trained" to look for faults, errors, shortcomings, defects, etc. Begin with yourself. List all your assets, not just physical but emotional as well. Your work ethics, sunny personality and awesome smile is a good place to start! Realize all the good in being you. Move on to other things around you. Work on this consciously every day till it becomes a habit. There is something good about everything and everyone. Once you realize this you will be finding good everywhere without even trying. Don't gossip, but rather say something nice about someone when the conversation heads that way. People will start trusting you more if they see that you do not gossip!


  • Learn something new every day. Pick up a book, listen to podcasts or search online. Learn to do something you have always wanted to do. Search a subject that fascinates you and start stimulating and enriching your mind today. There are many free podcasts that are available on your phone and they are so easy to listen too!

  • Reward yourself, set financial and personal goals and tag them with rewards for accomplishing them. It may be something special you have always wanted to do and not necessarily a purchase, especially if you financially constraint. You deserve it!
